DAYTON, Ohio, Nov. 15, 2021 — Midmark Corp., the only clinical environmental design company providing medical, dental, and veterinary solutions that enable a better experience at the point of care, today announced that Andrew Schultz, Jr., Midmark director, business development and clinical services, has been appointed to the North American Veterinary Anesthesia Society (NAVAS) board of directors for 2022. Schultz will fulfill a three-year term as director-at-large.

“I see an incredible opportunity to help NAVAS become a driving force in improving standards of care for anesthesia management and monitoring throughout the veterinary industry,” says Schultz. “I look forward to using my experience and network to help realize those goals.”

The NAVAS helps veterinary professionals and caregivers advance and improve the safe administration of anesthesia and analgesia to animals. Schultz has been serving as an advisor to the NAVAS board for the past 18 months, bringing his unique industry experience to help the organization grow its reach through the NAVAS Symposium, Veterinary Information Network (VIN) Rounds and member development, aiming to improve veterinary anesthetic outcomes through education and outreach.

In addition to his role on the NAVAS board, Schultz leads Midmark Academy, which provides in-clinic dentistry, imaging, anesthesia and monitoring training to more than 500 veterinary hospitals each year. Previously, he was the president and CEO of his own company, Sharn Veterinary, creator of the Cardell Monitor. In 2008, the company was acquired by Midmark.

Schultz also serves on the board of the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, and its outreach committee. “I see many synergies between these organizations,” shares Schultz. “Fear of anesthesia is the most common objection pet owners have in accepting recommendations to treat one of the most prevalent and untreated diseases afflicting pets, periodontal disease. The intersection of these two specialties provides an unparalleled opportunity for positive impact in veterinary medicine today.”
